Child Assault Prevention Failures
"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Ben Franklin
Everyone would agree that it would be far better to enable children to avoid the trauma of molestation, abuse and abduction than to try to repair their damage afterwards. Why let them go through such tragic experiences in the first place? Why not train them to detect & avoid dangerous situations? Every year in the United States there are nearly 60,000 non-family child abductions, with many becoming homicides.
State Attorney Generals are the chief law enforcement officers in charge of protecting their citizens from criminals. We find that 100% of the state's chief cops are not doing a good job concerning child assault prevention--the feds are no better--and have failed to utilize the best crime prevention methods available to protect children.
Below are links to State Attorney General web sites we evaluated in terms of effective child assault prevention. By "effective" we mean the best way to teach young children: videos of kids teaching kids. Print brochures, no matter how cleverly illustrated, are ineffective compared to video. Kids learn from and listen to other kids...
Our inquiry is limited to high profile placement of child assault prevention videos on their home page (primary link), rather than an obscure link among other links (secondary link). Whether these videos are free or from private vendors is not a consideration. (Don't forget that the great Amber Alert system comes from private companies and not from government or not-for-profit organizations). We also checked state governor's web sites to see what they have in this regard.
It's time that the AGs & Governors take a good, hard look at their programs (or lack of) to protect children from unnecessary hardship and trauma. Perhaps they should consult local street police officers who frequently and personally deal with both the victims and perpetrators of childhood crimes and have valuable and practical insight...
We cannot review their efforts on a sliding curve, lest we accept failure as the norm and measure from there, which, in that case, they are all doing great! We have a different criteria: every child who is victimized who has not been trained in how to avoid and/or properly report such a traumatic experience, starting at the age of 4, has been failed by society.
Here's what we mean by a primary link:
A secondary link looks like this at best:

We only count primary links in our reviews, as they alone promote effective child assault education. Everything else is, as human development specialist G. I. Gurdjieff would say, "pouring from the empty into the void."
